GTECH signs another state lottery

Boss Media's parent group GTECH Corporation has signed another contract with a state lottery, the second in as many weeks. Last week the company inked a deal with Société de la Loterie de la Suisse Romande (LoRo) for the implementation of a comprehensive interactive gaming platform, following a competitive procurement process (see previous InfoPowa report). GTECH's latest coup is a four year contract with the Belgium National Lottery, La Loterie Nationale, again through a competitive procurement process.

Under the proposed contract, GTECH will install its latest ES NEW MEDIA solution, an end-to-end e-commerce solution that positions lotteries for the future direction of interactive channels. In a multi-phased implementation, the system will deploy traditional lottery style games such as EuroMillions, Pick3, KENO, Joker, Lotto, and Instant games, and has the capability of introducing other interactive games over time.

Initially launching on the Internet, the system will allow for the expansion of services across interactive television and mobile channels.

“La Loterie Nationale understands the needs of its players and offering them the added convenience of purchasing lottery tickets through 'new media' channels such as the Internet,” said GTECH President and CEO Jaymin B. Patel. “We look forward to assisting the Lottery in providing an interactive solution that opens up additional sales channels to extend lottery games to a new audience of mobile players.”

“This is a completely new challenge and opportunity to enter into a market segment we have been absent in until now,” said La Loterie Nationale CEO Ivan Pittevils. “We are confident this will open up a whole new way of doing business with new clients, and thus will expand our commercial potential and our profitability in a socially responsible way.”

GTECH has been La Loterie Nationale's online and instant-ticket services provider since 1992. La Loterie Nationale raises funds for public interests and charities.
