Our readers will recall our report on the desire of NFL teams to get involved in online betting partnerships with state lotteries despite the League's virulent opposition to Internet gambling.
This week Associated Press reported that the Washington Redskins are now officially a lottery team following Monday's joint unveiling with the Virginia Lottery of a new $20 scratch-off ticket featuring the team's logo, and taking advantage of a new NFL rule that allows teams to sign licensing deals with state-sponsored lotteries.
The Redskins went all out for the announcement, displaying their three Super Bowl trophies in a news conference setting usually reserved for big player signings.
The ticket has a top prize of $1 million, and second-chance prizes include season tickets for 20 years and a chance to travel with the team to an away game against the Dallas Cowboys. The tickets go on sale August 3.
