Store clerk in Texas indicted for lottery fraud
A Nepalese store clerk resident near Dallas, Texas palmed a $1.1 million winning lottery ticket presented by a customer, cashed it and then absconded, clearly hoping to enjoy his ill-gotten gains elsewhere, a criminal indictment in the Lone Star state alleges.
Authorities said that 25-year-old convenience store clerk Pankaj Joshi was indicted in September on one count of claiming a lottery prize by fraud. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison. The indictment was unsealed this month.
