New Lottery System in Jersey

New Lottery System in Jersey
EIT to be brought by The Global Draw

The latest news from Jersey in the Channel Isles involves a deal its government has closed with Scientific Games Corporation subsidiary The Global Draw, based on which the Jersey punters will be able to benefit from new electronic instant ticket (EIT) system.

Namely, thanks to the new system, electronic instant tickets will become available in numerous participating venues, such as supermarket and pub chains, the airport and seaport, hotels and retailers, thus turning the operation into the first government lottery in Europe to sell tickets from EIT terminals.

The advantage of these tickets is their convenience, but also their potential to increase the amount of funds generated for Jersey Charities. They are quite easy to use, as players simply need to insert their money into the terminal, select the ticket of their choice from a number of lottery ticket images, "scratch" the ticket on the screen and then collect a receipt to claim their prize.

Such operation is safe and secure, as the EIT terminals are networked to a centralized system, and also because it involves daily monitoring and reporting.

It has been specified by Jersey's Minister for Economic Development, Senator Alan Maclean: "We're thrilled to officially launch electronic instant tickets, which will not only make playing the lottery more accessible and fun but also has the potential to boost contributions to Jersey charities that so desperately need the extra support.”

“With the support of the Department for Economic Development, the Gambling Commission and local Jersey businesses, we are delighted to be able to offer Jersey a new, convenient way to play the lottery,” added Paul Burnell, director of EIT/Lottery at The Global Draw.

"We've been working hard to ensure that every aspect of our electronic instant ticket roll-out goes as quickly and smoothly as possible. We have been and will continue to be extremely controlled and strategic with the allocation and deployment of EIT dispensers into the marketplace,” he concluded.
