Update: Indiana in Online Lottery Drive?
Looking into the possibilities of the lucrative project

This week, a report came from the US state of Indiana that Indiana's Hoosier Lottery plans to go online and exploit the potentials of the market.

According to Al Larsen, spokesperson for the Hoosier Lottery, such a sales initiative would probably not require a legislative decision, and it would be enough if the Indiana Lottery Commission approves it. Still, he said, Governor Mitch Daniels' office will be consulted before any substantive moves were made.

He also added that the lottery's investigation into the potentials of the field is mostly owed to the revised opinion of the Department of Justice on internet gambling in terms of the Wire Act.

“When you get down to it, we have an obligation to maximise revenue for Hoosier taxpayers so we have to look at all sales channels,” Larsen opined, underlining that the investigation will cover a number of factors, such as the impact on ticket retailers, responsible gaming considerations, and the demands of the state's lottery fans.
