Thugs Steal Charity Funds from a Mecca Bingo Club
A couple of thieves have stolen from the cancer charity collection boxes at Mecca Bingo in Paisley. The funds were collected by the staff and patrons for the Marie Curie Cancer Cure charity.

Club Manager, Grant Munro, commented to the media, “I think it is appalling that anyone would do something like this.

“The thieves ran into the foyer and stole money which was meant for a cancer charity.

“Our customers often put their loose change in the charity cans and I'm sure they'll also be appalled by what has happened.

“Police have been studying our CCTV footage and are looking into it. The people who did this are the lowest of the low.

“It is a sad state of affairs that we will now have to chain the charity cans down to prevent them from being stolen.”

Earlier that day, a 61 year old man was robbed of £120 outside a shop. The Paisley police are currently investigating the possibility of the thieves being one and the same.

Police Inspector, Eddie Gray has this to say, “The two incidents took place within hours of each other and in roughly the same area.

“At the moment, we are not treating them as being linked. However, we are definitely looking at them in conjunction with one another.

“They are similar types of offences, committed by men of a similar age and description.

“Officers are also studying CCTV of both incidents.”

The charity boxes are believed to have contained approximately £30. Needless to say, these thugs are being considered “the lowest of the low”.
