Gangs switch addresses, but in vain
It appears that the Jamaican authorities have decided to seriously crack down on the lottery fraudsters who most commonly target Americans via the internet, as this week the island police conducted another raid and new arrests.
This time, the police brought in 8 persons and confiscated luxury cars, jewelry, computers, televisions and cash to the value of $1.67 million.
According to a spokesman for the police Area One Lottery Scam Task Force, the raids in the Montego Bay area pressured some gangs to switch residence to other parts of the island, but they could not find peace there, as the police was active in that area as well.
As it appears, all the info collected in previous raids is now used by the task force to identify and take down other gangs. In addition, the proactive police are advising residents in communities across Jamaica to be on the watch for these scammers and to refuse to rent houses to them or help them in any way.
