The Riviera Hotel and Casino is going virtual in a partnership with Buffalo Studios, the company responsible for the Facebook game Bingo Blitz, in in hopes of drawing in new customers and breaking into the online market.
Beginning this week, Bingo Blitz players have the opportunity to win a free trip to Vegas to take part in the $200,000 bingo tournament which occurs twice per year by playing bingo on the new webpage.
After filing for bankruptcy in 2010, the Riviera reintroduced bingo to Las Vegas in an attempt to reestablish their reputation. Their collaboration with Bingo Blitz is a step toward attracting a more youthful demographic. Bingo Blitz was the 7th most recommended on Facebook last year.
Virtual cash will convert to real cash for the Riviera. Their Superstar Bingo tournament will offer 56 games over the course of 2 days including a minimum game payout of $3K. The tournament takes place July 14th – 15th with a $150 entry fee.
"Bingo has always been a very social game," said Salim Mitha, vice president of Buffalo Studios. "You went to a bingo hall and played with people and we've been able to translate that online."
With this new arrangement, the Riviera will select 2 Bingo Blitz players weekly to attend their upcoming tournament.
