Bingo Gets its Own Domain
The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has come up with a new scheme which may affect the domains of bingo sites. We've all seen websites ending in .com, .net, .org or .co.uk but there is a new domain on the scene, .bingo.

At first, interested companies must apply for the new domain. Recently ICANN released a series of names under application and this list also contains the names of two companies that have already moved forward with the application for .bingo domains.

The two companies are Sand Cedar, LLC and dot Bingo Limited. They will be the first to obtain a batch of this new generic Top-Level domain (gTLD) name.

Based in the USA, Sand Cedar, LLC is associated with a company called Donuts. It seems that they've already applied to obtain more than 300 .bingo domains.

With offices in London, New York and Gibraltar, dot Bingo Limited is associated with Famous Four Media and is the second company currently under application.

It is likely that .bingo will take time to catch on and it's fair to say that we won't be seeing it for a while. Bingo players will experience no signs of a change in domain name when it comes to the bingo sites they play at. This will become applicable to the domain name and will not impact the quality or games available on our favorite online bingo sites.
