Do the crime and pay the time and that is exactly what the federal government suggest for Ronnie Gilley for his role in the bingo corruption case. It is go to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200 for 11 years for Gilley and his former lobbyist and partner in crime Jarrod Massey.

The 131 month sentence is just under 11 years for Gilley and Massey will serve 134 months which adds up to about 11 years in prison. Terry Spicer, a former Coffee County legislator faces up to four and six years in prison. Sentencing will take place by U.S. Judge Myron Thompson next Monday.

Gilley plead guilty last year to one count of conspiracy, six counts of bribery and four counts of money laundering in what the prosecutors described was a conspiracy to bribe elected officials in order to secure passage of pro-gambling legislation. Lobbyists Jarrod Massey and Jennifer Pouncy also pleaded guilty.

Anyone else allegedly connected to the corruption were were acquitted of all charges in two separate trials.

Gilley got slapped with fines, penalties and the forfeiture of property and agreed to forfeit $200,000 as part of the money laundering plea.
