Furthering the cooperation with UK lawmakers the online and land gambling group Rank plc has launched an initiative titled Gameplan designed to improve the regulatory and tax regime in Britain.
The initiative proposes that using pejorative terms associated with gaming, ie "casino banking" should be intermitted because it makes inaccurate perceptions of gambling.
The company's view on the subject focuses on the scope for economic growth in online gambling. It advocates simplifying complex regulations and empowering local authorities to deal with and issue gambling licenses.
Geographical restrictions on gambling venue locations should be also eased allowing operators to meet consumer demand, and encourage expansion, investment and the creation of jobs. According to Rank, that could generate an additional GBP 87 million a year in taxes.
On the controversial issue of gaming machines in betting shops, Rank suggests matching machines to consumer demand by increasing the limits currently restricting this aspect with potentially an additional GBP 4.4 million a year for the taxman.
The tax issue in the document referred to a Bingo Association study carried out by Ernst & Young. It predicts that a Bingo Duty reduction to 15 percent could result in a tax revenue boost of GBP 35 million over the initial four years.
Anyway, Rank suggests that any differences in these predictions should be agreed at an accurate assessment with which everyone can be comfortable.
