A Million Dollar Almost Thrown Away Forever
A million dollar scratch card lottery was almost lost forever for Joseph and Joanne Zagami, a couple from Massachusetts who bought the card from the wending machine while buying some groceries.

Namely, when they got home, they mistakenly dumped the unscratched winning ticket in the kitchen trash can.

The next day Joseph remembered the ticket and asked his wife whether she had scratched it yet which caused an instant search with a happy ending - they managed to recover the ticket and find out they were instant millionaires.

Well, not millionaires exactly because they opted to be paid the one-time lump sum payment of $650,000 before taxes and $455,000 after taxes, instead of getting the money in installments over 20 years. Before taking a-must-vacation, the Zagamis plan to pay off their mortgage and other debts.
