Canada's Atlantic provinces, alongside the Atlantic Lottery Corporation, will take six lottery games, 6/49, Payday and Lotto Super 7, to the internet.
This is a first for Canada. The Lottery has researched options for online wagering for several years and expects to have a website launched by August 2014.
Lara Wood, marketing manager at the corporation, says online lotteries will appeal to a new market.
"Because this is a very specific type of person who wants to do this, we don't expect the impact to be very great," she said.
According to Wood, there are 30 lotteries around the globe that have launched online.
