Is the Social Aspect of Bingo Changing?
Before online Bingo it was local Bingo halls. Players gathered from the neighborhood and across town not only to play Bingo but to socialize with acquaintances new and old. There is a strong social facet that is a draw well beyond the game itself. Whether it is catching up on the latest gossip or sharing those homemade chocolate chip cookies with your Bingo buds, it is all part of what all players look forward to.

With the emergence of online Bingo has the trend for mingling dissipated? Has the game of Bingo fulfilled all our needs leaving chattering to the wayside?

Online Bingo sites haven't forgotten the importance, adding Chat boxes to each room for players to kibitz. But the lingo has reduce the amount of chatter with abbreviations like “wtg, lol and wb”.

Emoticons replace even more conservation with a simple happy face, sad face and wink. Gone is the good old fashion conversation among roomies.

It is no wonder that Team Bingo has been removed from Dragonfish software platforms. Instead it's replaced with the 2 Million Race that requires no team mates to enter as players compete independently against each other. Pulling a team together required organizing a group of players together which was no easy task considering the close connections have diminished. Of course it is only speculation but if it was a successful part of the marketing scheme why get rid of it!

The way we play bingo has changed with the modern convenience of playing at home. It is hard to resist sitting on your sofa in your pajamas and firing up the laptop for some bingo fun. Many bingo brands offer more than one variation of Bingo including a smorgasbord of other games including Slots and Casino games. Now, that is something we won't find at our local Bingo hall.

If old habit are hard to break, we have certainly proved that theory wrong as we kiss mingling goodbye while playing Bingo. Besides with Mini Games, and multiple bingo rooms that can be played simultaneously who has time to chat right? A quick “wtg” or “yw” will suffice when there is so much other action going on!

Maybe it is time to get back to basics and banish Bingo lingo with written words instead. Remember when hand written letters were common place?
