Campaigners Fight to Save Bingo Hall
As land based bingo halls are closing left and right in the UK, campaigners fighting to save the Flutters bingo hall as the owner, Andrew Tyler, decides whether or not to demolish it.

Tyler says the building may only be saved if someone comes along with a £2 million investment.

Iceland has plans to utilize the car park for a new store that it seeks to open within a year.

Campaigners are working hard to save the building but have been unsuccessful thus far in locating an investor.

Tyler said: “People need to realise what this building is actually like.

“It looks lovely on the surface which is because of all the work we did 10 years ago but behind the scenes it is really uncared for and needs a lot of money spent on it.

“There's no heating. All the heating was turned off because of leaks underground that can't be found. If we wanted to find them we'd have to rip the whole floor up. We'd have to spend so much money that we don't have.

“We also know there's asbestos buried in the ground and we are not sure where else.”

Campaigner Chris Kealey said: “The campaign fights on and the owner is still open to offers from us despite a deal with a supermarket at an advanced stage.

“People in Hinckley continue to give huge support and we're straining every sinew to find private investors to save this community asset so close to the new bus station development.

“We would like the Council to back us loudly and clearly, help us explore every option, and not issue statements that talk up the price, put off investors or talk down our chances. It's what our community campaign of thousands deserves from elected officials.”
