California AGO Granted Temporary Restraining Order Related to Tribal Bingo Operations
The California Attorney General's Office was granted a temporary restraining order against the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel Indians, which launched its real money online bingo product, Desert Rose enterprise.

Judge Anthony Battaglia supported the state's argument that tribal sovereignty rights for Class II gambling are not applicable to Desert Rose as operations of the bingo site place in Class III and further subjecting it to formal tribal-state compact negotiation.

The tribe and state must arrange to meet within the coming weeks to discuss a hearing to show cause. Until the completion of the hearing, the tribe will not be permitted to continue its bingo operations.
