If there was ever a testimonial to no luck at all, it was the Cubs….that was until now! The Chicago Cubs are an American professional baseball team based in Chicago, Illinois and they have not made it their way to the World Series folks since 1945. And dig this in the dugout; have not won a World Series since 1908. Hard to believe that for over 100 years there has been a faithful fan base that never gave up, handed down from our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers.
As legend has it was the curse of the “billy goat” that spawned the losing streak. We can blame Billy Sianis owner of the Billy Goat Tavern who was angry after asked to leave a Cubs game 4 of the World Series against the Detroit Tigers at Wrigley Field because the odor of his pet goat (named Murphy) was bothering other fans. Infuriated he walked out with is pet goat declaring “"Them Cubs, they ain't gonna win no more" and for over 100 years they haven't won a World Series!
But the Cubs won the National League Championship Series on October 22nd, 2016 after defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers and are finally on their way to the World Series games.
If you are a true bingo player and gambler than most likely you have a superstition or two of your own. What is crazy and ironic is the Cubs won on the 46th anniversary of Billy Sianis' death.
Now whoever said there is no such thing as superstitions when it comes to winning and losing!
