Noone hurt in grenade attack on Intralot CEO's home

The weekend started with a bang at the Athens home of Intralot chief exec Constantinos Antonopoulos on Saturday when unknown attackers threw a hand grenade at his home.

Police swarmed over the house in the affluent northern suburb of Kifissia following the explosion, in which fortunately noone was harmed. A motive for the attack has yet to be established.

The online news publication ekathimerini.com reported that police forensic experts were examining the remnants of the grenade, which detonated in the front garden of the house, causing no major damage and no injuries. According to the forensic team, fragments of a cell phone were discovered among the remains of the hand grenade. Police believe the perpetrators attached the phone to the grenade to confuse them.
