Scratchcards grow in popularity

New trend is good for business

The popularity of scratchcards as another income stream has boomed in the past year, fuelled by player demand for something a little different on which to take a flutter.

The rapid growth of Neogames and its frequent new games releases is usually the first of the genre that comes to mind, but this week Prime Gaming released some interesting games and business information showing that there's room for growth in the sector.

Prime ScratchCards is a leading brand owned by Prime Gaming, offering the player over 40 top quality instant win games and proprietary scratch cards, designed using the latest Flash technology. The firm's design team has embarked on a schedule of releasing one game a month to maintain interest and momentum in its site.

Constant refreshes of the site and the addition of new games has apparently given Prime ScratchCards one of the highest conversion rates in the sector, developing a growing following across Europe and possibly wider markets. The company boasts that it has practice players in virtually every country on the planet and regular players in 115 nations.

And by the end of last year Prime was selling 10 million scratch cards a month and paying out over Euro 8 million in player bonuses.

This expansion is set to continue through 2010 as Prime develops new markets and increases its online presence through a new blog, and social sites such as Facebook and Twitter. A substantial budget has been allocated for advertising and promotion of the brand through competitions and player bonuses, a company spokesman revealed this week.

The company is licensed by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority of Malta and is an eCogra approved site.
