Update: UK Gambling and Lottery Commission Needs Head

Merged body needs a leader

Following the merger of the Birmingham-based UK Gambling Commission and the National Lottery Commission, approved by the UK Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), the proposed UK Gambling & National Lottery Commission is looking for a Chair and advertizing for the position in all leading UK national publications.

The Chair will initially be appointed for five years, two to three days a week, with a remuneration of GBP 550 per day, plus expenses. The starting date is 1st April 2011, and the Chair is expected to lead the Gambling Commission until its merger (in 2012) with the National Lottery Commission, and thereafter take the reins of the merged body.

The Chair's crucial role will be to go through with designing the appropriate governance and associated board structure for the merged body, and to oversee the development of shared services and closer working in the run up to the merger.
