Sweet Home Alabama Not So Sweet On Electronic Bingo

The state of Alabama has been under a shroud of controversy whether or not electronic bingo is legal or not. It all started after an inspection of the machines had concluded it was legal, Governor Riley determined under his own cognizance it was illegal. The electronic bingo machines were ceased, putting thousands of people out of work. No new ruling has been determined whether or not these machines are legal in a state that is against legalized gambling.

The fact that bingo halls are legal in the state of Alabama complicates the issue. Your allowed to play cards on paper and portable computerized cards. Yet once it is a stand up machine resembling a slot, legal ratifications are imminent. Is there just cause to determine whether electronic bingo is illegal? The jury is still out. Bingo, like horse racing is a form of gambling that is legal under most jurisdictions.

The US has laws that allow gambling in some sectors yet not others. Las Vegas, the Sin City, is the gambling capital of the world. Many states allow brick and mortar casinos and many if not all states allow state lotteries. You can play in a casino, but not a online casino. You can play bingo in a hall, yet not electronic bingo. Why must there be so much emphasis put on where or what instrument is used when gambling in the first place.

Bingo is legal in the state of Alabama. As far as electronic bingo is concerned, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it must be a duck. Let's get the people of Alabama back to work and put the machines back in.
