Company allegedly defrauded of GBP80 000
The recent media reports and announcements from a respectable online gambling group The Weather Lottery (WTL), informed the public of a case which finds the former CEO of the company, Keith Milhench, and a fellow employee Amie Pickersgill-Smith facing a court hearing soon, based on fraud and theft charges involving GBP80 000.
The company chairman, Lord Razzall stated in his annual report last week that Milhench had departed, although the criminal proceedings were not referenced. The couple of former WTL employees, Milhench and Pickersgill-Smith, will appear before a Nottinghamshire magistrate on January 24th, 2011, under joint charges for seven counts of fraud and four of theft, including alleged misappropriation of jackpot payments to lottery winners between April 2008 and April 2010, when both of them were still with the company.
When the misdeeds of the two accuseds were discovered by the UK Gambling Commission, the case was reported to the Nottinghamshire police for prosecution. However, according to the company, it will retain its Gambling Commission licence to operate as an external lottery manager, which was renewed in October last year.
IT was confirmed by the Nottinghamshire Police that no other person related to the company is suspected of any wrongdoing, adding that they are satisfied that the alleged victims have been identified.
