Tough Times for Bingo Hall

Gainsborough bingo hall needs saving, bingo fans invited to help

A report arrived this week that Gainsborough's King's Bingo Hall has been going through extremely tough times, and in order to avoid losing this famous landmark in the town, the venue's owner Roger Whitnall started calling on all bingo fans in the area to help bring the old glory to the business.

The bingo hall has stood on Trinity Street since the 1800s and has served the bingo community for more than 50 years, and its owner specified that a decrease in customer numbers and other factors resulted in the troubles for the company.

According to Whitnall, "Without the support of Gainsborough residents, we won't be here for much longer. There's just a lack of customers and the whole town is struggling.

"We need about 300 customers a week but we've been down to about 160 recently. We're not afraid of hard-work but we're just losing so much money and nothing seems to be working."

It has been noted by industry observers that the hall's problem may have been caused, at least in part, by the growing interest in online bingo and the expansion of the industry.
