Care Giver Uses Pensioners Card Details to Play Bingo
The care giver of an 87 year old woman spent nearly all of her savings totaling £1,800.

Tina Smith, 54, convinced pensioner, Vera MaCrae, to share her card details with her. Smith proceeded to Tombola Bingo and spent £1,600 playing online bingo. Once she blew through that cash she spent the rest on her husband purchasing two toy helicopters for him. Smith has come clean and admitted to fraud by false misrepresentation. She justifies her actions due to her personal financial debt. Smith's friends suggested gambling as a means of earning money and getting herself out of debt.

The court has returned MaCrae's money to her but she was told that there is still a balance of £1,600 owed to her bank and another £900 in court costs.

Defending council, Raif Piggott, claimed while the basis of the case is a breach of trust, Smith fully confessed when interviewed.

Smith was sentenced to a six-month suspended prison sentence, a three month curfew and will be required to pay £100 in restitution.
