Beach Blanket Bingo Star Dies
In the history of movie titles there is only a few with the word “Bingo” in it. Beach Blanket Bingo was an overnight sensation released in 1965 starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon. The storyline didn't have much of plot but teenagers went in the groves to see Frankie and Annette on the silver screen. Bingo players rushing to the theatre in hopes of seeing dabbers, winners and 75 ball bingo saw anything but that. Needless to say there was no disappointment at the end of the film.

Annette the American sweetheart passed away in a California hospital today at age 70 due to complications of multiple sclerosis she has battled for 25 years. She got her start and is probably most remembered as one of the original Mouseketeers on the Mickey Mouse Club show.

Walt Disney cast Annette after seeing her at a dance recital at the age of 13 where she rose to stardom quickly. Always close to Walt Disney she had this to say:

"He was the dearest, kindest person, and truly was like a second father to me. He was a kid at heart."

And Annette touched the kid and heart inside us all.
