Happy Thanksgiving the Bingo Community
Celebrated the fourth Thursday of November, Thanksgiving week is here again. It all began in 1621 when the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared a feast together. To commemorate Thanksgiving day President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed it as a National holiday in 1863.

It was a turbulent time in US history in the midst of the Civil War. The holiday is about giving thanks and though lives were lost on the battlefield, the American people still found reason to be thankful.

Reflecting on the last year and giving thanks for what we have is the nature of this popular holiday. The celebration is centered on a feast fit for king. Traditional dinners include a turkey with all the trimmings: stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, vegetables plus savory desserts like pumpkin pie with whip cream and apple pie.

Some families incorporate their own special dishes alongside the turkey. The US is a tapestry of cultures and depending on the ethnicity, homemade dishes like tamales, baked lasagna, cheese spätzle and pierogies are included on the menu.

It is a special time when families gather at the table and bow their heads in prayer for the bountiful buffet they are about to have.

Volunteers donate their time and work kitchens to prepare meals for the homeless and less fortunate who may not otherwise have the financial resources for a fancy feast.

Following Thanksgiving day is Black Friday; the biggest shopping day of the year where the hustle and bustle of busy bargain hunters seek out the best deals for Christmas present giving.

Big sales start at midnight with long lines wrapped around storefronts as eager shoppers are eager for price buster gifts. Waiting for hours for the doors to open is worth it for some customers who claim massive savings.

Online Bingo players won't have to fight and crowds to receive special bargains staying put right inside the comfort of their homes. Bingo sites offer fantastic promotions to honor Thanksgiving with massive Jackpots, Contests, Raffles and special Bonuses.

It can be a sentimental time when passed on loved ones who once shared a place at the table has now become an empty seat where they once sat.

No matter how rough the last year has been there is always something to be thankful for. Remember when it all began during the Civil War and if folks back then had the perseverance and the foresight to still be thankful, so can we.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours on this very special holiday!
