Financial officer at Pembroke College at the University of Cambridge, Jacqueline Balaam was arrested in 2014 on fraud charges and was sentenced this week to two and a half years in jail.

Balaam, 41, had an online bingo addiction and was convicted in the Cambridge Crown Court.

She falsified invoices at the college and stole £285,986.18 over the course of nearly two years from June 2012 and January 2014. She was also the treasurer at the Girton Social Club, where she also took £3,198.

According to reports, Balaam likely made and lost £6 million while gambling online during the height of her addiction.
